VENDOR PROFILE
Think of a John Hughes film filled with character archetypes of jocks, cheerleaders and nerds, and then, picture vendor Patrick Simms in that fictional realm with his self-proclamation, “I am the quintessential nerd.” Born here in Denver in 1964, Patrick is a computer language expert, having advanced skills in around twelve languages, particularly in C++ and Java, which are widely used today. He talks wisely of calculus theory and where it intersects with physics, in regard to understanding change over time. He exalts the benefits of fiscal responsibility, while always wearing a button-down shirt and tie with shorts and suspenders.

Donate Now

The Denver Voice aims to represent everyone in the community. As an independent, nonprofit publication, the Denver Voice receives most of its financial support from individual donors. Every issue offers news, essays, poetry and art. Much of the content is provided by homeless people and, in addition, we provide opportunities for individuals to sell the paper. Through their hard work selling the Voice, several of our vendors have been able to earn enough money to get off the street, and we hope to help many more people in the future. Vendors purchase the paper for a quarter and sell it for a dollar. We aim to make the paper inexpensive and accessible to vendors who are facing homelessness. Our organization does not make a profit through our vendor program. Therefore, we depend on individual contributions to cover all our costs. Your donation will go directly toward improving and sustaining the Denver Voice so we may continue offering unique perspectives on the Denver community while helping people get off the street.

Donations help cover essential operating costs needed to keep our programs on the streets, where our vendors depend on them! Your donations help us pay for:

  • Vendor Program Materials, like T-shirts, ID Badges, resource lists and writing notebooks
  • Printing, the more vendors we recruit, the more papers we need to print!
  • Office supplies
  • Mailings
  • Equipment maintenance

Please ask your employer about matching contributions. Help support this important and ground breaking project. Please consider a contribution today. Denver Voice is a 501(c)3, and all donations are tax-deductible.
